Welcome to History of Magic!

::She sat in her rather old, but still very comfy leather chair and survayed the room. She had been a Transfiguration Professor when she was still teaching, and during her time as Deputy Head. Of course, when she became Headmistress she had handed of the teaching possition to someone else. Namely being Luvinia Rothsworth. Rayna had not taught in three years, but due to this years shortage of teachers, she had taken it upon herself to teach History of Magic. As the student began to filter in, she abandoned her thoughts and stood to greet them::
"Good morning class! Welcome to History of Magic, seeing as how Professor Gobswap has seen fit to retire this year, I will be teaching the History of Magic posistion."
::Her nerves began to disappear the moment she stood infront of the class, this was her element. This was teaching.::
"Before I begin, are there any questions you'd like to ask?"

"That's a very good question Victoria. We'll be mostly studying Europeen History, but I've tried to add a good dash of information about other cultures and their history."

::Looks around the class:: "Are there any other questions?" ::No one answers:: "No? Alright then, let's begin the lesson!"
:: Beams at the class::
"Now, to begin we will be studying Ancient Egyptian magic. We work by the timeline here," ::Indicated a timeline written in careful detail on the board.:: "Before we begin, I would ask that you copy down the timeline, and I will let you know when we will be studying each period." ::Waits for students to pull out quills and ink and begin copying the timeline::
"We will be doing Ancient Egypt first, then move on to the creation of the wizarding world as we know it, the creation of Hogwarts, and the start of wizard-muggle persicution. Then we will move on to the 14th century, again, during the witch burning frenzy. And of course, we will study Wendolin the Weird. Who, if you hadn't known, was burned at the stake 47 times."
::Grins at the thought of good old Wendy::
"Then, onto the 1600's and the great Goblin Rebellions. I'm sure you've all heard of those, following which we will study the 1800's, in which the Giant Wars occured, bringing the species to the brink of extinction, and of course, the creation of Valeau. And then we move on to more modern History, such as the rise and fall, and second rise of the Dark Lord."
::Looks about at the students::
"Have you all finished copying the time line?"
::No one answers::
"Well then, lets get on with Egypt!"

"In Ancient times wizards were worshipped, their unique skills admired. Though muggles were often slightly intimidated, wizards were held in the highest esteem. The main occupation of the Egyptian wizards was to put curses on tombs so they could lie undisturbed from those who could have harmed them. This was a great time in wizarding history, a time when muggles and wizards lived side by side, just as they should. Magic was accepted as normal. Now, can anyone tell me when this ceased to be? When did the relationship between Muggles and Wizards begin to detiriate?"

::Looks up:: "Uh, didn't the relationship begin to deteriate after the fall of the Egytian Dynasty? When the Romans took over, they instated fear and panic and mass sloter of Egytian Wizards? But that wasn't the only thing was it? Didn't wizards become favourable in some circles during the Dark Ages and Mediaval times? Just look at Merlin. And of course, there were the witch burnings, when often muggle women were falsly killed."
